Our Home Building Process:
Your Dream, Our Expertise

Building your semi-custom home in New Richmond, WI, is an exciting journey, and we believe you should be a part of it every step of the way.

This outline helps explain what to expect during your build, providing a clear, step-by-step reference.

Getting Started:
Financing Your Dream Home

Before we begin building, it’s essential to get pre-approved with a lender. We understand this is a significant step, but it’s a required part of the process. If you don’t already have a lender, we’re happy to recommend trusted professionals that Avant Builders has worked with, who understand our building process and financing requirements. We’re committed to delivering a quality-built home that offers great value, all while providing outstanding customer service.

Our Step-by-Step
Building Journey

Step 1: Your Initial Building Consultation

This is where your vision begins! During our initial meeting, you (and your real estate agent, if you have one) will sit down with an Avant Builders New Home Specialist.

We’ll take our time to understand your wants and needs for your semi-custom home. We’ll also share our suggestions, discuss available locations and lots, explore various home plans, and provide general pricing information. Once we have a clear idea of your vision, we’ll work with our architect to draft some options and create a personalized proposal.

Step 2: Proposal Meeting

Next, we’ll schedule a proposal meeting to review your tailored package. This will include a proposed house plan, lot, location, and an initial price. Based on our initial consultation, you might have one package or a few options to consider, giving you flexibility in your choices.

Step 3: Purchase Agreement

Once you’ve made your final decision on your house plan, location, and base price, the next step is to write the offer to purchase.

A builder deposit will be required to finalize this agreement, which will go towards your home’s down payment. This agreement is contingent on both buyer and seller agreeing on the final blueprint, which we’ll cover in the next step.

Step 4: Selections Meeting

This is where your home truly starts to take shape with your personal style! We’ll set up a selections meeting for you to choose everything from appliances, bath and kitchen fixtures, flooring, cabinets, and countertops to exterior options and any other special requests you might have. Our team will guide you through the process, ensuring every detail reflects your taste.

Step 5: Final Plan Review

Before we begin the actual excavation of your home site, you’ll meet with an Avant Builders Representative for a final blueprint and selections review.

We do this to ensure every detail of your home is exactly what you envisioned and agreed upon. We’ll also align on the schedule, and a site review will help confirm the perfect placement of your new home.

Step 6: Site Plan Meeting

At the site plan meeting, you’ll meet our project manager, our excavator, and our surveyor/engineer. The main purpose of this meeting is to finalize the precise house placement and go over any other important details regarding the excavation and the digging of your basement.

Step 7: Walk-Throughs During Construction

Throughout the construction of your home, we’ll schedule key walk-throughs. For example, we’ll do an electrical walk-through to ensure all outlets and lights are located and installed precisely to your specifications. You can also request additional walk-throughs with your realtor if you wish.

Step 8: Home Orientation & Final Walk-Through

As your new Avant Builders home nears completion (typically 99% done!), your New Home Specialist will guide you through a final walk-through and home orientation. This is your chance to address any last-minute touch-ups, discuss items that might require seasonal scheduling (like landscaping or driveway grading), and become familiar with all the components of your new home. We’ll also review routine maintenance and answer any questions you have.

Step 9: Closing Day

The final step is completing the purchase of your Avant Builders Home. We’ll meet with your lender and sign all necessary documents to finalize the loan transactions for your beautiful new home.

Step 10: Move-In!
